One of the Coolest Projects I Have Ever Started

Well, this last week I (Scott) have started something that I never thought I would ever do. I started training a horse. As part of my career I have been asked to train a recently donated horse at the Ranch.
So, here are a few early pictures of the horse I am training. His name, after much deliberation and thought is Parches Regios. I call him Parches for short. His name, translated, is Royal Patches. Here are a couple of pictures of him:

Parches is the one in the front in this picture.

I will most likely be talking a lot about how training this 3 year old Paint in the next little while. I have already learned a lot of things from him. Like patience and persistence for instance. I'll write more about this later. How he got his name is a story in and of itself.

Songs about Life

I had an interesting thought come to mind at work last night. I was working with a team of kids at the Ranch and I heard a song come over the radio in the barn. I can't remember what song was playing but, as I heard the song I had a flood of memories run through my mind. The memories were of a relationship that I had with someone that was described in that song.

So, I decided to look at my list of tunes at home and think about the relationships that I have with people and which songs on my playlist that depict those relationships.

If you were to look at the songs in your own collection that would describe you relationships what are they?

As I look at the screen in front of me I find my mind wandering to the hundreds of people I know and how songs and lyrics keep popping into my head.

Just a thought, why do we sometimes struggle putting things to words and later find that lyrics written by who knows who describe our innermost thoughts and feelings?

Here is my list for my own family:

Andrea-Unexpected Love- Lyrics and Music written by Humma Jeeba (Dave and Dan Petersen with my input!)

Allie-Brown Eyed Girl-Van Morrison and Stealing Cinderella-Chuck Wicks.

Elena-Daughters-John Mayer and Stealing Cinderella-Chuck Wicks.

I am interested in know what songs you think about as you read this...what song best describes us from your perspective.

Time to Catch Up

Well, we figure it has been since Christmas and it may be time for an update to our blog.
We are trying to stay somewhat warm in the Artic Tundra we call home. We have had more snow this winter than the previous two winters.
The other new news that we have is that Andrea is working part-time for Beneficial again, like she was before Elena was born. She is excited about it and Scott is confused at what all the little numbers she is entering in the computer actually mean. Then again, Andrea wonders what the deal with the kids at the Ranch is!
Allie is doing great. She just got her report card and is doing great as a first grader.
Elena continues to be a ball of energy although is fighting a cold as we type this. Making messes of the front room is her speciality!
When we have more interesting news we'll write again.
Perhaps Scott will think up a new topic related to Fly-fishing to write about later today, days off are pretty far and in between.

Merry Christmas

Well, instead of sending our Christmas letter out in the mail we decided to send it out on our blog.
Greetings from Loa, Utah. We hope this finds you well and enjoying this holiday season. We figure that since everyone else and their families are sending updates on their families we should give in to positive peer pressure and do the same.

We figure that George needs to be included even though he really wouldn't know the difference since he never comes in to check out the blog. But, he is growing up and doing well. His news for the year is that he sometimes gets to go on trail rides and chase cows and other dogs around. He gets excited to see us and learned to sit still while fly-fishing with Scott.

Elena has had a pretty great year and continues giving us a run for our money in trying to keep her happy. She is three and full of life and boundless energy. She is into pretending to be Allie's mother and telling her what to do. She continues to pretend that she will be five and going to school next year.

Allie is in first grade and loving every minute of it. She continues to amaze us with her wit and her love for those around her. She is growing up and becoming quite the reader. She is looking forward to Christmas and finally being able to spend a day off with Scott.

Andrea continues to maintain an incredibly busy life in Loa. She continues teaching piano lessons. She also continues serving in the Primary Presidency in our ward. She also has been rather busy the last while preparing for Christmas and for the primary program. She continues putting up with Scott and working to maintain her own sanity at the same time. (Quite the task!)
Scott continues furthering his Equine Therapy career at Aspen Ranch and becoming more and more of a cowboy as he goes. He also had an exciting year fly-fishing as he began working with the owner of The Quiet Fly Fisher guiding on the local waters. He is becoming more and more interested in that world and the spiritual nature of teaching others something he loves.

The best news of all for this year is that next year we will be adding to our family. WE ARE EXPECTING our third child next July! We are excited and looking forward to finding out what it is early next year.

We hope that the coming year brings joy and happiness to you all. May the Lord Bless you all!
